Kanuti Resto in Tallinn – A Tasty Dining Experience in the City Centre

Kanuti Resto in Tallinn is located at Mere pst 6e, right in the city centre. It is a cosy and stylish restaurant where a relaxed atmosphere meets carefully prepared dishes inspired by both Estonian and international cuisine.

I went to Kanuti Resto without any strong expectations because I did not really know what kind of food experience to expect. That made it even more fun to discover that several dishes genuinely surprised me 😋🤩

The Atmosphere at Kanuti Resto

The atmosphere in the restaurant is romantic and spacious. Calm background music creates a relaxed mood, making it a nice place for both dinner and a slower lunch.

The interior feels stylish without being too formal. It is the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy the food and simply have a pleasant evening.

🍤 King Prawns with Potato and Ginger Purée

For the starter, I chose the king prawns with potato and ginger purée, asparagus and soy-wasabi sauce.

The potato purée was deliciously savoury, and the ginger added a fresh and slightly spicy note. The prawns were nicely seasoned, and the whole dish had a pleasant balance of tangy and salty flavours.

It was exactly the kind of starter that wakes up your taste buds without feeling too heavy before the main course.

🐟 Salmon with Zucchini Risotto

For the main course, I chose salmon with zucchini risotto, lemon sauce and asparagus.

The risotto was beautifully creamy, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The fish stayed juicy and tender, while the lemon sauce added freshness.

This was one of those dishes where nothing felt unnecessary. All the elements worked together, and the salmon itself remained the star of the plate.

🍫 Halva Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream

For a sweet ending, I decided to try the halva brownie with vanilla ice cream.

The slice was quite generous, so anyone with a sweet tooth will probably be very happy with it 👌 The halva gives the classic brownie a slightly different and more interesting character, while the vanilla ice cream balances out the richness.

Special praise also goes to the oat-coconut latte 😋. It was a really nice match with the dessert.

Kanuti Resto in Tallinn Exceeded My Expectations

Before visiting, I had not really formed a clear opinion about Kanuti Resto. I did not know what the food would be like or which dishes would stand out the most.

But Kanuti Resto exceeded my expectations by quite a lot 😋🤩

I especially enjoyed the well-seasoned king prawns, the creamy zucchini risotto and the perfectly cooked salmon. The dessert was also a proper ending to the whole meal.

If you are looking for a restaurant in Tallinn city centre where you can enjoy seafood, fish, meat and slightly more interesting flavour combinations in a calm and romantic atmosphere, Kanuti Resto is definitely worth adding to your list.

The FoodLover Restaurants Week special menus are available from October 4–13, 2024, so if you want a table at a specific time, it is worth booking in advance.
