🐟 Bruschetta with Salmon and Stracciatella – a Safe Choice

The starter from the fish menu was a bruschetta with lightly salted salmon and stracciatella cheese – a combination that probably always works. The salmon was fresh, though the bread was a bit too grilled for my taste, but the cheese added a lovely creamy softness.

Was it surprising? Not really. 🤷 But it was definitely good — a safe and satisfying choice. If you’re a seafood lover, it will make you happy, but if you’re looking for something more explosive, just wait for the main course 🤩.

🥩 Beef Tartare – Crispy Bread but Left Us Wanting More

Tartare is always an exciting dish — so simple, yet it can easily become a masterpiece. At Kai Resto, it was nicely presented and well-prepared: beef tenderloin, quail egg, pickled cucumber, onion, kimchi, and cherry tomatoes. The meat was soft and finely chopped, perfectly fresh and balanced.

But… we wished for a little more flavor. A touch of capers or some spice would’ve lifted the whole dish to the next level. 👉 Not bad at all, but it felt more like a “warm-up starter” than a “wow experience.” The bread was a bit over-grilled for our taste — super crunchy 🥖.

Definitely try their homemade pitcher teas while you’re there. We chose the exotic fruit tea, which was pleasantly tart and aromatic — the perfect refreshment with the meal. 🍵

🍣 Sushi Assortment – A Feast for the Eyes and Taste Buds

Let’s start with the sushi assortment — because honestly, if sushi is on the menu, you have to order it. And truth be told, Kai Resto’s sushi is impressive.

The plate arrived like a small piece of art 🎨 — a play of colors, textures, and sauces. Everything looked thoughtfully designed and perfectly arranged.

👉 On the plate, there were three types of sushi:

Ama Kai – tuna, salmon, pear (yes, pear inside sushi!), cucumber, sriracha, and miso sauce.

Yoshi Kai – this one felt like a full celebration: philadelphia, eel, snow crab, tempura shrimp, cheddar, tobiko, flying fish roe, and several sauces — spicy, unagi, and sesame. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be “all-in-one sushi” — flavorful, rich, and juicy.

And of course, a classic salmon nigiri, because no sushi assortment would be complete without it. 😉

Altogether, it was colorful, balanced, and full of flavor. My favorite was the green sushi roll — both beautiful and delicious. 😋

🏆 Beef Mignon – The Absolute Star of the Night & Grilled Sea Bass – A Symbol of Freshness

If the starters felt like an introduction, then the Beef Mignon was the highlight of the entire evening. The steak arrived perfectly cooked 🥩 — juicy, tender, and just the right shade of pink inside. And those salt flakes on top — simply brilliant! That tiny detail enhanced the flavor of the meat even more.

On the side, there were young potatoes 🥔 and corn 🌽, both perfectly done, though the steak was so outstanding that everything else felt like part of the supporting cast 😉. If the starters didn’t quite impress, the main course absolutely did — it was a full-on flavor experience.

If I had to recommend one dish from Kai Resto, this would be it.

The main course from the fish menu was grilled Sea Bass, and it was something you could honestly eat every day. The fish was spot-on — perfectly seasoned, with crispy skin and tender, flavorful flesh. The side vegetables 🥕🥦 were vibrant, fresh, and cooked just right.

This dish is a clear favorite for anyone who loves fish — and even if you don’t, the Sea Bass might just change your mind 😉.

🍰 Sweet Moments – Signature Cakes with Style

At the time of our visit, FoodLover desserts weren’t yet available, so we chose from the restaurant’s dessert counter instead. Our picks were their popular creations — “Pearl,” “Rose,” and “Little Heart.”

Each one had its own character, flavor, and style — beautifully crafted and plated with care down to the smallest detail. It’s clear that the pastry chef at Kai Resto pays attention not only to taste but also to presentation.

A sweet finish to an already memorable dinner from the Kai Resto menu Tallinn experience. 🍮✨

🎭 Service & Overall Experience

The service was friendly and attentive — without any unnecessary formality. 👌 I really appreciate when a restaurant finds that perfect balance: you feel welcome and cared for, but not overly treated like a “VIP guest.”

Throughout the evening, everything ran smoothly ⏳ — we never had to wait long for anything. The dishes and drinks arrived at just the right pace, and the whole experience felt effortless.

Kai Resto is truly an ideal weekend spot. 🎉

My personal favorites:
Beef Mignon – the absolute star of the night
Grilled Sea Bass – crispy and flawless
Sushi Assortment – rich, colorful, and full of surprises

The starters were more like a gentle warm-up, but the main courses and desserts turned the evening into something special.

And don’t forget — Kai Resto is open only on Fridays and Saturdays from 5 PM!
If you show up on a Tuesday, you’ll just find a locked door and think: “I really should’ve read that blog post.” 😅
