Mix Resto – A Refined Culinary Experience in the Heart of Tallinn Old Town!

We visited Mix Resto during the FoodLover Restaurants Week to try their special menu.
The restaurant is located in the heart of Tallinn Old Town, at Vana-Posti 11/13, in the same building as My City Hotel.
Mix Resto offers modern European cuisine, where traditional flavors meet innovative culinary techniques.

The restaurant is located on the lower level of the hotel, but thanks to its high ceilings, natural light, and spacious layout, it feels bright and open.
We experienced very friendly and attentive service, with the staff providing knowledgeable explanations of each dish.
The atmosphere at Mix Resto Tallinn Old Town is cozy and welcoming, with warm tones and relaxing background music that create a pleasant dining experience.

During FoodLover Restaurants Week from February 13–23, Mix Resto in Tallinn’s Old Town offered a special 3-course menu with two choices for both starter and main. Naturally, we had to try everything on the menu! 😋

3-Course Menu – €37
Starter (choose 1):

• Beef Tartare à la Mix – smoked handmade mayo / shallots / Dijon mustard seeds / Parmesan cheese

• Snow Crab Meat with Red Caviar – soft-boiled egg / cream cheese

Main (choose 1):

• Sous Vide 55°C Beef Tenderloin – mushroom potato gratin / wine sauce

• Sous Vide 55°C Salmon Steak – potato pancakes / Béarnaise foam / zucchini flan

Dessert:

• Chocolate Sphere – Vana Tallinn Cream / vanilla ice cream / fresh berries

Flavors & Impressions

✔ Beef Tartare – Incredibly tasty! The mustard seeds added a sweet note, while the smoked handmade mayo gave it a rich depth. There was no traditional raw egg yolk on top, but it wasn’t missed – the flavors were well-balanced and very enjoyable.

✔ Snow Crab Meat – Delightful and mild in flavor. The bread was crispy, and the filling had just the right creamy texture. The red caviar added a small touch of luxury.

✔ Salmon Steak – Surprisingly juicy and naturally flavorful – my favorite way of cooking salmon! The Béarnaise foam was creamy and airy, and the tangy sauce complemented the fish perfectly.

✔ Beef Tenderloin – Nicely juicy and peppery, with the perfect level of doneness for my taste. The potato and mushroom gratin was a real surprise – creamy, flavorful, and well-baked. The rich wine sauce added depth to the meat.

✔ Chocolate Sphere – Visually stunning and a true feast for the eyes. A dream come true for chocolate lovers! This combination is my favorite – rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced with fruit and chocolate 😋.

In summary: Surprisingly large portions, very high-quality flavors, and a special menu at an excellent price.
