Starter:
Portobello gratin with goat cheese – truffle aioli / juicy artichoke filling
Main course:
Sea bass fillet – warm Jerusalem artichoke & caper salad / smoked spinach yoghurt
Dessert:
Cardamom chocolate mousse with mascarpone
The portobello mushroom has a rich and distinct flavor. The goat cheese gives it a creamy depth. A beautifully composed and flavourful starter 👌. The house-made bread served alongside has a delightfully sweet and salty note.
A bit of background on portobello:
Portobello is a variety of mushroom, essentially a mature champignon. When its cap fully opens, it can reach up to 15 cm in diameter. Due to the open cap, more moisture evaporates during cooking, giving it a dense, meaty texture and intense aroma. Portobello is a gourmet favorite used in various European cuisines – one of the most flavorful and easy-to-cook mushrooms, rich in vitamins and micronutrients like copper and selenium.

Main Course: European Sea Bass Fillet
The main course features a perfectly cooked European sea bass fillet with a delightfully crispy and savory crust 👌. Each side served with the fish adds a new layer of flavor, creating a balanced and memorable culinary experience.

The waiter suggests perfectly paired wines to complement each dish. To finish the culinary journey, a cardamom-infused chocolate mousse with mascarpone is served – like the cherry on top. Mmm… simply divine! A true explosion of flavors dances on the palate, and the velvety chocolate harmony is just superb. I think I’ve found a new favorite 😋

R14 is located in the former power station of the Rotermann Quarter, which once supplied electricity to the surrounding area.
This cozy and stylish wine restaurant features an interior where special attention has been given to materials and color combinations, allowing the historic limestone building’s original details to shine and stand out beautifully.
