SALT Restaurant in Tallinn – A Flavor Explosion You Won’t Forget
If you usually think of going to a restaurant as ordering something fairly classic, maybe a little fish, a little meat, and perhaps tiramisu for dessert, then SALT Restaurant in Tallinn is the kind of place that turns that whole idea upside down 🤗
Tiina, the heart behind SALT, does not simply prepare food. She creates flavors you may not even have imagined could exist 🤩
We visited SALT specifically to try the FoodLover Restaurants Week menus. These special menus are available only from October 2–12, and it is definitely worth booking your table in advance.
If I am being completely truthful, SALT is one of those restaurants I always enter with a little bit of awe.
Not because there is anything intimidating about it, but because the food sets the bar so high that afterwards, meals elsewhere can suddenly feel a little less exciting and memorable 🙂
SALT is located in Tallinn at Vase 14 / Faehlmanni 15, tucked away in a quieter corner of the city.

When you step inside, it feels a little different from the usual city restaurant. It is small and cosy, not overly fancy, but still stylish enough to make the evening feel special.
Tiina, who runs the kitchen at SALT, is a true food angel 👼
You can feel her passion and love for food in every bite. My deepest respect 🙏 When something is made with genuine passion, it shows in every little detail.
During FoodLover Restaurants Week from October 2–12, SALT offers two special menus.
We tried both, and now the same experience is waiting for you ✨
Two Special Menus to Enjoy
🍴 Dinner Menu – €35
- Thai crab cakes with lime chili sauce
- Moroccan-style lamb tagine with prunes and black lentils
- Espresso Martini crème brûlée
🌱 Vegan Menu – €20
- Watermelon sashimi with Montreal spices and celery leche de tigre
- Colorful carrots glazed with Coca-Cola and served with cashew cream
SALT’s kitchen takes inspiration from the world around us, bringing together different cultures while still keeping a connection to familiar local traditions.

🦀 Thai Crab Cakes – Crunch and a Flavor Explosion 💥
Mmm, these were so good.
A crispy crust, soft filling, and a real explosion of spices in every bite.
The sauce was incredibly flavorful and spicy, honestly the kind of sauce you could eat straight from the bowl with a spoon 😜
This is one of those dishes that alone gives you a reason to visit SALT 🤩

🍉 Watermelon Sashimi – The Dish That Completely Surprises You 🤯
Yes, watermelon.
More precisely, watermelon sashimi with Montreal spices and celery leche de tigre.
And no, it is not a dessert. It is served as a savory dish.
It was surprisingly delicious and honestly quite amazing to see how watermelon can be prepared and presented in such a completely different way.
👉 This dish proves that SALT is not afraid to experiment, and in this case the experiment works beautifully.

🥕 Coca-Cola Glazed Carrots 🥤🥕
At first, Coca-Cola glazed carrots sound a little strange.
You immediately wonder how that is supposed to work.
Then you take the first bite and suddenly it all makes sense.
So much flavor!
The carrots were sweet and still nicely crunchy, with a really distinctive taste.
The cashew cream on the side tied everything together.
This is exactly the kind of moment when you realize that nothing at SALT is ordinary. Familiar ingredients are simply shown from a completely different angle.

🐑 Moroccan Lamb Tagine – Pure Comfort Food 🤗
And then came the lamb, a Moroccan-style tagine with prunes and lentils.
This is pure comfort food.
The kind of dish that, when you are feeling under the weather, feels like warmth and comfort in one bowl.
The meat was incredibly tender and practically melted in the mouth. It did not even have that strong lamb flavor some people expect.
It was simply really delicious meat.
Coriander seeds and curry powder added depth and brought in a wonderful Middle Eastern feeling 🌿
You could tell that a lot of care and love had gone into this dish, and you could taste it in every bite.

🍮 Espresso Martini Crème Brûlée – Even for Non-Coffee Drinkers
Dessert was Espresso Martini crème brûlée.
And this is one of those coffee-flavored desserts that can still work beautifully even if you are not really a coffee drinker.
It was soft, creamy, and had just the right amount of coffee flavor.
Not too strong, not too heavy.
For me, it was the perfect ending to the evening.
🍵 Tea – Simple, Authentic and Calming
With the food, we also had a beautifully spiced tea.
It tasted genuine, warming, and somehow calming.
Sometimes a really good cup of tea is exactly what a bold meal like this needs.
🍸 Cocktails and Wine at SALT
SALT also serves excellent cocktails.
They are balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with the same attention to detail as the food.
The wine selection is relatively small, but instead of trying to offer everything, SALT seems to focus on wines they genuinely believe are worth serving.
And I actually like that approach.
SALT does not try to offer the same things you can find in every other restaurant.
For me, SALT serves memories and experiences.
My Favorites at SALT
⭐ Thai crab cakes – crispy and packed with flavor
⭐ Watermelon sashimi – an amazing savory surprise
⭐ Coca-Cola glazed carrots – unusual and honestly brilliant
⭐ Lamb tagine – warm, comforting and melt-in-the-mouth tender
⭐ Espresso Martini crème brûlée – great even if you are not a coffee drinker
SALT Restaurant in Tallinn – A Place Worth Returning To
SALT is one of those restaurants that sets the bar very high.
After eating here, it can be surprisingly difficult to find the same level of excitement elsewhere.
But maybe that is exactly why it feels so good to return again and again 💛
If you are looking for a creative restaurant in Tallinn where familiar ingredients are transformed into something completely unexpected, SALT Restaurant in Tallinn is absolutely worth adding to your list.
FoodLover Restaurants Week special menus are available from October 2–12, so if you want to experience these dishes yourself, it is worth reserving a table early.
