Sakura Resto in Tallinn – European and Asian Flavors in One Kitchen

Sakura Resto in Tallinn is located at Pärnu mnt 32, conveniently in the city centre. The kitchen brings together different elements of European and Asian cuisine and uses them in a modern way, creating dishes that feel familiar but still have something a little different about them.

One of the first things that caught my attention was the large open kitchen. If you enjoy watching how your food is prepared and seeing what is happening behind the scenes, this is a really nice detail.

Sakura Resto Atmosphere and Interior

The restaurant has three different dining areas. In the first room, large floor-to-ceiling windows give you a view of the city outside. The second area feels a little more private, while the larger room at the back can also be used for private events.

There is also a small playroom with toys downstairs for children, which makes the restaurant more convenient for families as well.

FoodLover Restaurants Week 3-Course Menu – €27.20

From February 17–26, Sakura Resto offers a special 3-course menu during FoodLover Restaurants Week for €27.20.

Starter

  • Nigiri selection: 2 pieces of seared salmon nigiri with sweet wasabi sauce and 2 pieces of roasted eel nigiri with unagi sauce

Main course

  • Pan-fried salmon fillet with ponzu sauce, herb oil, avocado cream and rice

Dessert

  • Dark chocolate brownie with creamy vanilla cream

🍣 Nigiri – Both Were Excellent

The fresh nigiri served as the starter were excellent. The rice had exactly the kind of texture I hope for in good nigiri, soft but still holding together perfectly.

I honestly tried to choose a favorite between the two, but I could not 😄 The seared salmon with sweet wasabi worked beautifully, while the roasted eel with unagi sauce was just as rich and flavorful. Both were memorable in their own way

🐟 Pan-Fried Salmon Fillet – Juicy and a Little Different

For the main course, we had pan-fried salmon fillet with ponzu sauce, herb oil, avocado cream and rice.

Mmm, this was a real wow moment 😋 The salmon was incredibly juicy, and the preparation felt a little different from the usual. The ponzu added freshness and acidity, while the avocado cream softened everything nicely and brought the dish together.

Definitely something I would recommend trying.

🍫 Dark Chocolate Brownie

To finish the meal, we had a warm dark chocolate brownie with creamy vanilla cream.

The portion was generous, so anyone with a sweet tooth should be very happy here 😄 The brownie was rich and chocolatey, while the vanilla cream balanced the sweetness really well.

A proper sweet ending guaranteed!

Service and Overall Impression

The service was polite and helpful, and I left with a very positive overall impression. At one point, there was hardly a free table in the restaurant, which says quite a lot about how quickly locals had already discovered the place.

They also serve lunch specials during the day, so Sakura Resto works not only for a longer dinner but also for a more casual everyday lunch.

Sakura Resto in Tallinn – European and Asian Flavors Together

What I liked most about Sakura Resto was that it does not try to be only a classic Asian restaurant or only a European one. The flavors are mixed quite freely and in a modern way, but the combinations still work.

My personal favorites were definitely the nigiri and the salmon fillet. I especially liked the texture of the nigiri rice, while the salmon stood out for its juiciness and the combination of ponzu and avocado.

If you are looking for a restaurant in Tallinn city centre where you can try sushi, fish and dishes influenced by both European and Asian cuisine, Sakura Resto is definitely worth adding to your list.

The FoodLover Restaurants Week special menu is available from February 17–26, so if you want to visit at a specific time, it is worth booking your table in advance.
